ESP Abilities :: essays research papers

Ability and talent A person's psychic, ESP, or telepathic abilities can't be judged by a single or a group of exercises. This ability develops through time and practice. So, if you don't do well the first time, don't feel bad, the exercises need to be practiced over and over. Be patient and you can expect to see an improvement in all your latent abilities over a period of time, not just in a few tries of guessing cards. Attitude The mind set and attitude at the time of the test are critical. It is important to maintain enthusiasm and interest when testing yourself because it has been found to make a difference. When a person begins to get bored, their score often times goes down. Meditation This helps to train your mind to focus. It’s very helpful to meditate before you start ESP exercises. The object of the process is two-fold; to relax the body and to subdue the thoughts that continuously traverse our mind. One never stops the mind completely, but one can achieve states of relatively long periods where the mind is silent. It is during these moments, no matter how brief they are, that we enter a state of the void, the null or nothingness. Start the counting from around 20 and imagine seeing the shape of each number as you count down. At one point you may disappear from the counting process and not be aware that you've done so. It’s OK, don't be concerned, its part of meditation. You can also say to yourself â€Å"deeper† and imagine your body drowning into deep state if counting requires too much effort. ESP Exercises 1. Using the ESP symbols, make your own card preferably 25, 5 for each symbol. Try to guess what the card is without looking. It’s always good idea to record your results to see if you’re making progress. If it helps, make the card distinct as possible and practice with fewer symbols until you feel comfortable. Also playing with different colors may help you differentiate better. 2. Get 3 cups and fill each cup with water, orange juice and milk. Either blindfold your eye or set up some kind of barrier where you can’t see the content of the cup, place hand directly over the cup and guess the content of each. Focus and try to feel the energy each liquid is exerting.

Investing in Tufs

Case Summary Investing in TUFS The case refers to a company called Northern Insurance and their huge investment on TUFS (Technical Underwriting Financial System). That system was the largest investment ever made on IT by Northern Insurance and it was supposed to assist the company by â€Å"streamlining the underwriting process and providing strategic e-business capabilities†. Yet, after a couple months, TUFS became the cost-center of the company, spending almost $4 million, and therefore the CIO, Martin Drysdale’s job was on the line.He had a meeting with the CFO, Melissa Freeman, to discuss the reasons why the system was not providing the benefits it was supposed to and whether to keep investing on it. Discussion Questions: 1. TUFS was a great idea that would help the company a lot. It was supposed to help streamlining the underwriting process and therefore with cost savings. However, the technicians did not get any participation from the underwriters. Also, the departm ents were not in the same page in the creation of the system, and the result was a lot of money had to be spent on fixing underwriting errors that kept appearing over and over again. Additionally the senior underwriting managers still insisted on old reports instead of just looking it online, one of the benefits of TUFS. And lastly, there was a lack of business involvement in decisions, which contributed to the disappointment of the system. In conclusion, most of the resource of the company was spent on addressing underwriting issues that could have been prevented from the beginning if the underwriters and technicians had worked together (or did not lack in communication). 2. The IT people from the TUFS and the underwriter managers must get together and change the system so the whole situation with fixing one mistake and finding many others is prevented. Also, the system needs to be created (or changed) in such a way that it is easy and comfortable for the underwriters to use.To help with the transition to using the TUFS, a training program for the underwriting department would be perfect. Furthermore, the company needs to prioritize all the projects and apply deadlines to them so they have a clear list of what and by when to do it. 3. The benefits can be measured by comparing the amount of time spent using the old system and the new one (including training). And also, the company could have some kind of cost savings scorecard, and again compare the old system with the new one.

Is Family Paid Leave - 1533 Words

Family Paid Leave One cannot simply address the idea of family paid leave without looking at issues that have impacted the family unit previously known by our nation’s founding fathers. While it is true that divorce was an issue prior to the United States ever establishing itself as a nation, it is important to know that in the years prior to 1970 there had to be a legitimate reason for ones being granted a divorce; adultery, desertion, bigamy. Prior to the â€Å"no-fault† divorce, national divorce rates held steady between the years 1950 and 1965 at 2.4 divorces per every thousand people. It was only after the â€Å"no fault† divorce implementation by California in 1969 and its subsequent adoption by other states in 1970 that divorce rates†¦show more content†¦Divorce fractures the family unit which had previously provided its children with much needed stability and allowed those children to prosper. Assets that previously been allocated to a childâ₠¬â„¢s development are now used to help them adapt to their new life status. Our nation’s involvement in WWI required significant manpower which led to the enlistment of a significant portion of our male population as well as a smaller female faction. The result was a deficit in the industrial workforce of our nation. In an attempt to shore up these deficits our government incentives for those women who chose to leave their homemaker status to enter the workforce and support of the war effort. During WWII two-thirds of our nation’s married women entered the work force to aid the nation’s war effort. At the conclusion of the World Wars, many post war families had become reliant on the second income of the wife/mother making it difficult to revert back to traditional family ideologies. More recently, legislation legalizing gay marriage is yet another weakening of the conservative traditional family unit which the former secretary of education, William Bennett, d eemed â€Å"vital to civilization’s success.† Socialists as well as Communists have previously expressed their extreme aversion to both the traditional ideas of family and marriage. Socialist’s ideologies include children being divorced from their parents and their being transferred to a communal style of living.
